Today's post will focus on the original version of the EPCOT Center Guidebook, which featured a spinning wheel to get information on the attractions in Future World and World Showcase or on different Kodak cameras (if you flipped the guide to the back). The guide shown below was acquired during a March, 1983 visit to Walt Disney World.
[NOTE: Since posting this item I've come across a link to an even older version of this guide, which doesn't include Horizons and has a different look the to spinner page with descriptions of each pavilion. Take a look!]
Shortly after you visit, we released an updated version of this guidebook that had a starfield behind the Epcot map - It was the second and last revision of this guidebook.
ReplyDeleteMost opening day guidebooks command some pretty good money but because this was so innovative, many were kept and so the value isn't as great as say an opening day guidebook for one of the other Disney parks.
It brings back memories as I was part of the Epcot opening crew and passed these out like crazy while in Guest Relations.
Ron, thanks for taking the time to comment on this post (and for your work in Guest Relations). I'm sure you have some great stories about the early days of EPCOT Center. If you'd ever like to share any of those, then I'd love to chat sometime!
